In particular:

- Analyse the drivers of the client's decision makers and influencers
- Agree the client's "hot buttons"
- Analyse the strengths, weaknesses and likely strategies of the competition
- Quantify your current position versus the competition
- Identify the gaps/weaknesses in your current proposition and actions required to rectify
- Plan next steps
